1. Driving License & Fitness to Drive
You must hold a current, valid UK driving licence (provisional, full, or an appropriate foreign licence) and produce it on (or in advance of) your first training session. You must be fit to drive concerning legal and medical requirements.
- You must be able to read a modern car number plate from a distance of 20.5 meters (with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
- You must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that affects your ability to drive. Your instructor reserves the right to cancel the lesson immediately if they suspect you are unfit to drive. The full lesson fee will be charged in this event.
2. Cancellations & Punctuality
We understand that cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. However, driving instructors operate on a tight schedule, and late cancellations result in lost income.
- 48-Hour Notice: You must give a minimum of 48 hours notice to cancel or change a lesson. If you fail to provide 48 hours notice, you will be liable for the full cost of the lesson.
- Punctuality: Your instructor will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes after the scheduled start time. If you do not arrive within 15 minutes, the lesson will be cancelled, and you will be charged the full lesson fee.
- Instructor Cancellations: Your instructor reserves the right to postpone lessons if they feel the weather or road conditions are unsuitable or dangerous. In the event of a vehicle breakdown or illness, another mutually convenient appointment will be arranged.
3. Payments & Block Bookings
All driving lessons must be paid for in advance or at the start of the lesson.
- Block booking payments must be made in full on or before the first lesson of the block.
- Block bookings are valid for a period of 6 months from the date of payment. Any lessons not used within this timeframe will be forfeited and are non-refundable.
- If you request a refund for a block booking before the 6-month expiry, any lessons already taken will be charged at the standard hourly rate, and the remainder will be refunded.
4. The Driving Test
Your instructor's vehicle can only be used for a driving test if your instructor believes you are at the required standard to pass safely.
- Refusal of Car: BNG Driving School instructors reserve the right to withhold the use of the training car for the test or a lesson if, in their professional opinion, you are not up to the required standard.
- Test Day Package: The test day package includes a 2-hour window covering pick-up, pre-test practice, use of the car for the practical test, and drop-off.
- Your instructor cannot be held responsible for test appointments cancelled by the DVSA (e.g., due to examiner illness or bad weather). In such cases, you will still be liable to pay for the instructor's time and vehicle usage. You may be able to claim compensation directly from the DVSA.
5. Your Rights and Instructor Conduct
Your instructor will abide by the DVSA Code of Practice for Approved Driving Instructors.
- You will receive professional, courteous instruction at all times.
- Your instructor will maintain a clean, well-maintained, and fully insured training vehicle fitted with dual controls.
- Complaints should be directed to the driving school management in the first instance to seek a resolution.
6. Privacy & Data Protection
We take your privacy seriously. Any personal information you provide to BNG Driving School (such as your name, address, phone number, and provisional license details) will be used solely for the purpose of providing driving tuition and managing your account. We will not share your personal data with third parties without your explicit consent, except where required by law.
